The Child’s Journey A family navigation program

Facilitating family connection during the Nine-Year Change.

Meaningful moments

What is the program?

The nine-year change can be a tender time for a child, it can feel almost disorienting. With attuned support and steady emotional nourishment, it can also become a time of meaningful growth and discovery.

This 6 session program is designed to facilitate families of 8.5-10 year olds through a meaningful journey that identifies, honors, and celebrates the child and their experience with this change.

Explanation of the Nine-Year Change

The Nine-Year Change is a significant developmental shift that occurs typically between age 8.5 and 10 years old when children begin to wonder about their purpose, question previously accepted beliefs about themselves, and begin to define their place in the world.

Outcomes of the program

This offering invites families into a shared space of curiosity and care. Together, we will:

  • Explore this developmental shift as thoughtful caregivers

  • Find reassurance in the wide range of experiences that emerge as our children navigate this “inward turning”

  • Engage in simple but revealing practices that create pause and space for the family

  • Deepen our understanding of the child’s subtle waking up to selfhood—both to who they are becoming and to the wider world they are beginning to meet

Caregivers will leave equipped to support their child’s unfolding with compassion, meet this transition with warmth and clarity, and be resourced for the many transformations that still lie ahead.
